12. Weekly Go Green Tips 3 in 1 ( 22/August/2011 ~ 28/August/2011 )

Tips 34:
Use latex gloves when washing dishes or applying the cleaning liquids. By naked hands will surely cause damage or even corrosive effect to the skin at certain extent. Green concept is not something that just involved the thing or environment surrounding us, but also includes the own self-care on personal body health.

Soak very dirty dishes before you wash them. Put a plug in and fill your sink with soapy water. After a half an hour soaking it will be much easier to wash them and will consume less water.

Tips 35:
Only fill the bathtub as much as you need. Bathing babies, small children and pets requires much less water. Filling a bathtub uses a fixed volume of water. Reducing the flow rate has no impact on the amount of water used for a bath. Water volume is a key point.

Make sure that your bathtub drain plug doesn’t leak. Replace the plug or plug washer if necessary.

Don’t let the used bathtub water go down the drain! Reuse bath water outdoors on your landscape if it is possible to do so. Bathtub water may not be useful water on all types of landscape as high concentrations of phosphates, nitrates and boron from soap may harm sensitive plant types such as citrus.

Tips 36 :
Each time you turn on a water faucet use the lowest pressure necessary. Keep the water turned on only while it is needed (Turn off the water while soaping up or shampooing). Check for and repair leaks in the tub diverter valve.

Replace existing tap or shower heads with the lower flow product in your bathrooms. Install a water-efficient showerhead that uses 2.5 gallons/minute or less. Shower heads with a mist setting let you reduce water flow even further. Low-flow taps and shower heads can save 20% of water without even influence our shower habits. Low-flow fixtures mix water with air and although less water is used, the flow has its usual power with the same efficiency.

Reminder:
Assign someone do regular check on the water tag, water pipe leak condition and repair accordingly.
